and markets a high-quality range of innovative automotive OEM coatings,
automotive refinishes and industrial coatings as well as decorative paints.
In Australia, under the name of BASF Coatings Australia Pty Ltd and
operating out of Sydney, BASF has a significant market position in the
automotive OEM and refinish coatings business.
It all started for BASF Coatings in Australia back in 2000. BASF Akzo Nobel
Automotive OEM Coatings Pty Ltd was established to provide automotive OEM
coatings, and in 2002, the company acquired the automotive refinished business
of Wattyl Ltd. In 2005 BASF strengthened its position in the Australian
coatings market, by acquiring full ownership of the OEM Coatings business.
